Ila was born March 30, 2016, and spent the first five weeks of her life at Children’s Hospital of Georgia. The specialized neonatal intensive care staff became like family to Ila and her family. One day, her mother went to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to see Ila and found her bed empty. Mom soon found out Ila had been crying, so Dr. Bhatia carried her around and rocked her to sleep.
Ila’s mom also says, “In the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Erin, a NICU nurse, was like a sister – she was just as excited as we were when Ila was discharged to go home.”
Ila loves milk and likes to lie back and gaze at green tree leaves against the blue sky.
