Student volunteers learn about healthcare careers through pop-up session

The Augusta University Summer Volunteen and VolunJag programs are held through the summer for rising juniors and seniors (Volunteens) and college students (VolunJags) who have an interest in pursuing a career in the medical field. These volunteers support more than 20 departments across AU Health.

In addition to their regular volunteer service, participants also have the opportunity to engage in pop-up sessions, which provides them with a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of the medical center.

On June 23, these student volunteers toured the operating room and supporting perioperative locations, including day surgery, PACU and sterile processing. This is a great way for participants to be introduced to a variety of healthcare roles while gaining hands-on experience.
