In recognition of American Heart Month, throughout February Wellstar MCG Health Imaging (formerly AU Health Imaging) has joined forces with the local chapter of the American Heart Association to potentially help save lives in our community by reducing the cost of its Cardiac Calcium Scoring Exam (Cardiac CT scan) to $79, a 20% discount from the regular price of $99.

A cardiac CT scan for coronary calcium detects the presence, location and extent of plaque in the coronary arteries. This information helps to determine a patient’s risk of atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, but it can be preventable. A CT scoring exam can help determine if medication or lifestyle changes are needed to reduce a patient’s risk of heart attack.

CT cardiac scoring is recommended for women ages 55 to 75 and men ages 45 to 75, and anyone who is at increased risk for heart disease. Risk factors include high cholesterol, family history of heart attacks, diabetes or family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, cigarette smoking, overweight or obese, and sedentary lifestyle.

The exam is non-invasive and takes about 10 minutes to complete. It must be ordered by a physician and is not typically covered by insurance. The screening is read only by Wellstar MCG Health sub-specialized cardiothoracic radiologists.

The $79 special pricing is available throughout the month of February and is all-inclusive with no additional fees. It is good only at Wellstar MCG Health Imaging (formerly AU Health Imaging), 3722 Wheeler Road, Suite A.

To schedule a screening or for any questions, call 706-723-8860.
