“Attention all units: AU Health AirCare 1 is now in service at 12:15. Congratulations and Godspeed.”
With those words, spoken over air traffic control airwaves at Augusta Regional Airport June 22, AU Health’s AirCare program was officially launched.
With speeds of 155 miles per hour and range of 350 miles, the air ambulance can reach patients farther and faster with lifesaving expertise and equipment. The aircraft will also be able to transport specialized medical personnel, support persons and medical personnel-in-training.
