AU Health’s Interpreter and Translation Services will offer ASL classes in January

AU Health Center for Patients and Families Interpreter and Translation Services is offering classes in American Sign Language that will run for eight weeks, beginning Jan. 11.

The introductory course is beginner level and will cover topics like syntax of sign language, deaf culture, and expressive and receptive fingerspelling comprehension. Students will apply techniques learned in class through conversational sign language.

The class will be held 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays Jan. 11 through March 1. Course fees are $50 for tuition and $45 for the textbook. Classes are held in the Children’s Hospital of Georgia Conference Center, Room 1810.

The course is open to the public.
